CVC MOLYBOND-321

(Bonded Lubricant)

It is a suspension of microsize Molybdenum disulphide in a binder solvent system of resinous nature to achieve a bonded lubricating film over bearing surfaces to withstand temperature upto 600°C.

MODE OF APPLICATION: By spraying, dipping or brushing.

HOW IT WORKS: When applied over bearing surfaces MOLYBOND 321 spreads uniformly and establishes a thin coating. The solvent evaporates soon afterwards leaving the binder to set and form a solid lubricating film of considerable tenacity.

ADVANTAGES TO TYPICAL APPLICATIONS:

It can be used on cutting tools, threaded connections, splines, hinges and pivots, etc. to provide a long term durable lubricant properties as follows :-
1. A DRY LUBRICANT: It is effective in conditions where dust or dirt, cotton fluff or other foreign particles etc. exist in the environment (as in cement, textile etc. industries)
2. A CLEAN LUBRICANT: A must for industries like food processing, dairy, printing, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, textiles etc. where cleanliness is a vital consideration.
3. AN EXTREME TEMPERATURE LUBRICANT: It is effective from minus 180°C to +600°C. At very low temperatures as in cryogenic plant and refrigeration industry other types of lubricants will get frozen. At very high temperature as in steel plants, foundries etc. other types of lubricants will get burnt. MOLYBOND 321 is an effective solution for such temperatures.
4. A PERMANENT LUBRICANT:
a) for inacessible bearing surfaces, for example, burried mechanisms in computers and business machines, hinges and pivots, slipper pads, spindle journals, aerodynamic linkages etc.
b) for users who would not lubricate, for example, of kitchen mixers and other domestic appliances, instrument panels and meters, mimeograph machines, cutting tools etc.
5. A RUNNING-IN-LUBRICANT: A bonded lubricating film will provide an excellent surface treatment for anti-scuffing, anti-wear and prevention of welding at high temperatures for initial run-in and assembly, for example in I.C. Engine, Gears, compressors etc.

PRE-TREATMENT: For maximum effectiveness the bearing surfaces should be ground crosswise to the direction of ‘Chip flow’ to provide reservoirs’ for the retention of MoS2 in use For some steels, phosphating or sand blasting would also provide the necessary pre-treatment.

DILUTION: A specially prepared thinner known as MOLYBOND SL-321 is used for dilution as follows:
For Brush application: Between 1 and 2 parts of diluent.
For Spray application: Between 1 and 5 parts of diluent.
For Dip application: Between 1 and 3 parts of diluent.

DRYING SCHEDULE: Temperature Drying time
1. Room temperature – 1-4 hours
2. 120-160°C – 15 minutes for metallic surfaces.

COVERING POWER: 1-kg. product suitably diluted will cover approximately
10 Sq.meters of surface.

SHELF LIFE: 1 year when properly stored (store in a cool place)

PACKING: 1-kg.jar; 5-kg.plastic carboys; 550-ml.Aerosol containers.
